Mwr Cwm Seed Group « Result #1 on Dec 23, 2009, 2:49pm »
Just thought I'd announce that we have a new Seed Group begining on January 29th 2010, upstairs at the Phoenix Club in Lancaster in the small room
Although an open group and anyone is welcome at our meetings - We are affliated to OBOD (Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids)
The plan initially is to just meet up and celebrate the festivals and if the interest is there expand to work on various aspects of the Druidic path together
The number of Druids doing the OBOD training has increased recently and we would like the opportunity to meet up formally and would welcome Druids from other Orders and Pagans (or otherwise) who are interested in coming along
Our website will be mwrcwm.co.uk - But there is nothing there as yet as I've not had time to sort it
We have chosen the name Mwr Cwm because it is believed to be the Celtic name for Morecambe and we think (having asked some friends who are Welsh speakers) that it probably means Sea Valley

Allo again
If you're looking for stone circles and suchlike, I'd recommend Google Earth with the Modern Antiquarian add-on (both available at the Modern Antiquarian site), they show all the sites on the website, and filters very well.
But, sacred spaces aren't always necessarily Stone Circles/Henges/Standing Stones etc. but somewhere that suits an individual.
You're lucky to be near Kielder Water, officially 'the darkest place in Britain', where the starlight is astounding. Go visit the Observatory there, you won't regret it (unless it's cloudy, obviously...)

Thank you Paul. I recently moved to the North East, So we are not too far from Cumbria ourselves. I will have to look closer to home as well for special and ritual sites. Although their are a lot of really beautiful areas around here anyway. Especially Northumberland. If you do know of any such places in the north east, I would be grateful for any suggestions.

I'm awake! I'm awake! Quit with the prodding you.
Hail and Welcome Jonny!
As BC says, we're a quiet li'l group - but a nice bunch (well, most of 'em...) and I think it's safe to say we're fairly eclectic in our personal beliefs and practices, so I'm reckoning that you'll get plenty of answers to any questions you may have.
I celebrate at various locations throughout Cumbria for the 8 ceremonies (gradually getting nearer to home the more the winter sets in, can't think why...) and for Mabon I'm sneaking over the border to the Maben Stane near Gretna, or at least that's the plan, on Sunday, and my local stone on the Equinox itself.
I hope you enjoy the site, and if you have anything you want to share with us, go ahead and do it.

Hail Jonny! And welcome to the forum.
Y'know, I thought it was one of the options somewhere, either in your profile or under the text box when you click 'reply' - but after checking, it seems not. Hmmmm....I'll keep looking ('cos I'm sure it's around here somewhere) and get back to you on that one. I've only recently set the board to be open for the public to view, and there's still a couple of glitches in the matrix (although why, I have no idea, it was a single click option...)
There's an option to 'bookmark this thread'...wonder what that does...?

Hi, I am a new member and so far have really enjoyed and benefited from looking around the site. At the moment my favorite part of the forum is the Bardic section.
I was wondering if it would be beneficial for alerts to be sent to members email addresses whenever a new thread is posted and when replies are posted in their threads. That way people would know that their are new items on the forum and this could possibly generate more use and interest.
I realize that they way the forum works currently would probably encourage people to stop by and look through the whole site, so it might be a case of which is better really.
I would like to say that I really like the site/forum and the people seem really nice too.
