The legend of Long Meg and Her daughters « Thread Started on Sept 21, 2008, 11:41am »
Of course there is the one about Long Meg and her daughters, which I am sure most of you know but never the less is an interesting legend as it were....so I am going to share it anyway ... there are several variations but from what I have been told legend says that Long Meg and Her Daughters were a coven of witches who were holding their Sabbat, or others say dancing on a Sunday when it wasn't allowed, and Michael Scot, a rival wizard from Scotland, found them, caste a spell over them and turned them into stones. Apparently, if you can count the stones twice the spell will be broken. But as we know the chances of all the stones being there is unlikely.
Anyway, I have to say Long Meg and her daughters has to be one of my nearest and dearest sites of the ancients, a part from Callanish in the Outer Hebrides which has to be the most magical place I have visited (so much so my son is named after them and the island they are on)
