Birkrigg
On a moorland ridge overlooking the sea I sat at some stones, awaiting. Meeting friends, old and new Faces once remembered.
The burial mound above the town Protective and protected, Some people go, some people come I stayed all night, reflective.
Three of us did, a trinity unlikely And the Alsation that didn't like me. We talked and talked, then talked some more And then I drummed the clouds away.
Broken and still, the clouds tried to hide The morning Sun behind them, but He broke through, in yellows and reds Burning like tongues of fire.
Circle open, and I thank the Gods The Elements and the Stones, For allowing me to see them. And then I had a wander.
Time went on, and the Sun went higher Clearing the clouds before Him. As I returned, the Solstice turned And rays burst across the water.
I stayed all day, and saw the Noon 'bout half past two, midday. I thanked the Gods, and was blessed by this place As I held vigil, the ancient way.
The Sunset gathered and so did some friends, To wish him well on his journey. And we opened another Circle.
We drummed and we sang And we danced and we laughed And we wished him well on his journey And then we closed the Circles.
Three Circles round, within three circles round mostly hidden in the bracken. Love released across the land At this Midummer time.
