 Summer Solstice 2009
« Thread Started on Jun 26, 2008, 2:06pm »

Hylo! Spent a lovely time at Long Meg and think it's an ideal place to host next years summer solstice celebrations. The energies there are totally different to Castlerigg and it's so peaceful. I love castlerigg and the surrounding hills give it such a dignified calling but my new fav place is Long Meg and her circle. It's huge - reminds me of Avebury how it's set out.

Allo!

It's likely that Castlerigg will be the CDO venue - I know for definite Skippy will be there, and hopefully I'll be there (just waiting on xray results on monday before I commit fully) - in a collar, probably...

Me and my definites....

I will be joining Skippy to enjoy the Solstice Dawn and Setting at Birkrigg near Ulverston. If anyone wishes to join us please do come and say hello. Birkrigg is Skippy's local circle, and I'm looking forward to seeing the Sun rise out of the sea, it'll be a new experience for me, certainly.

And I'm deffo taking my camera!

2 fires in the circle at Castlerigg this year & a caravan that dumped an unbelievable amount of c*ap. The problem with the fires is that people who come up in the following weeks seem to light fires in the same spots and think that it's normal to so.

Any sign of National Trust or anyone?

Maybe this year is the time when the Keswick locals get organised into a group akin to the 'Avebury Guardians' - anyone in Keswick want to take it on?

I was at Birkrigg near Ulverston, watching the Sun rise over an estuary from a tiny little circle in the midst of a lot of bracken, holding vigil from sunset to sunset. Was bloody lovely - I'll post some pics up and I'll be updating the website.

If you were celebrating in Cumbria, send me some pics and - if you want - an article to go with it. I'll put them all together on the site, like a 'round the circles' page or two. Maybe it could be a regular feature eh!

I didn't go all that far for the sunset, just to Arthuret church near Longtown, we couldn't really see the sun but it was nice to sit there listening to the birds. A buzzard flew close by calling out as it passed.
I always get such a great feeling at Arthuret church, it was clearly an important area long before the church was built.

Very nice stones aint they!

Coppinger!!! Welcome to t'web!

Turns out this weekend (well, monday/tuesday) I'm off up to Ayr to visit Perci's sister, so won't be celebrating at a Cumbrian Circle (bit like last year, come to think of it...) but will be holding a ceremony on the beach near there to mark the season. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, have a good time and be well and Blessed by your Gods
